Nicole Pangas is a studio artist working in ceramics and mixed media collage. Born and raised in Northeast Ohio, Nicole earned her BFA in ceramics from the Cleveland Institute of Art in 1993, with minors in painting and printmaking. She studied art and poetry in the south of France at the LaCoste School of Art. After a year of Master of Fine Arts studies in ceramics at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, she moved to Detroit in 1994, when she was awarded a position as artist-in-residence at Pewabic Pottery. At Pewabic, Nicole was a ceramics instructor and master potter, and later, the head of the vessel fabrication department. She also taught ceramics at the College for Creative Studies (CCS) in Detroit.
Nicole has exhibited her ceramics and mixed media work in solo and group shows around the U.S., including the Red Lodge Clay Center in Montana, The Clay Studio in Philadelphia, Pewabic Pottery, Detroit Artists Market, Paint Creek Center for the Arts in Rochester, Michigan, Ann Arbor Art Center, and the Rackham Graduate School at the University of Michigan. In 2012, Nicole received the Editor’s Choice Blue Ribbon Award at the Henry Ford Museum’s Maker Faire Detroit. Nicole sells her work through her Etsy shop as well as Pewabic Pottery in Detroit, and Don Drumm Studios & Gallery in Akron, Ohio.
